Creative Commons License Our World: Crisis Middle-East 2006 Visual communicators from around the world must begin participating in informing the public of social and political issues of the day, offering alternatives to mainstream media giving our citizens better critical analysis of world events. It is our lack of critical awareness that makes us unqualified to actually participate in our democracies, and this is encouraged by our governments, and the corporate sectors. As a year long independent study, I proposed to research and execute a series of motion graphic based segments that would deal with explaining complex social and political issues that affect our world today. The goal of this project became the presentation of my own researched “truth” in a clear and concise visual narrative, promoting the rejection of the media’s narrative and encouraging the viewer to seek out and determine their own ideas of “Our World”. This segment titled “Crisis: Middle-East” deals with the past 30 years of aggressive actions carried out by the United States of America in the Middle-East. It explains the process in which they have taken pre-planned steps to install imperial control in that region, for the sole purpose of securing a dangerously diminishing natural resource (oil).
